SEED is a non profit organisation that relies on funding, donations, membership, and volunteer involvement. We strive to deliver meaningful community projects that have a positive social impact to the local community. We hope the information below answers some of your questions. Seed's aims and objectives
1.Promote social and personal wellbeing, community spirit, and community cohesion.
2. Promote understanding about British cultural customs among Ethnic residents in Hampshire and vice versa.
3. Encourage people to consider using or develop their untapped skills, knowledge or passions to create opportunities for employment, self-employment, and personal development.
4. Facilitate the creation of community support groups for families or individuals according to their needs.
5. Encourage people to make the most of available local services and resources.
6. Encourage people of all ages to engage in an active and healthier life style.


Seed's action plan (long term view)

SEED intends to liaise co-operatively with members of the community, groups, charities, local authorities, Education providers and private sector organisations in order to:

A. Facilitate meaningful learning opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds in the following areas:
1. Arts, Crafts and Traditional Hobbies workshops, talks, seminars or exhibitions.
2. Cultural customs workshops, talks or seminars
3. Traditional Worldwide Cuisine courses or demonstrations,
4. Language Learning: English as well as Foreign languages.

B. Develop projects with a focus on worldwide traditional cuisine, languages, arts & crafts, as well as social and personal wellbeing

C. Apply for funding through the local, regional, national or international funding opportunities.


Seed's action plan (short term view)
Our present priorities are:

1. To create awareness about SEED among the community by organising informal and friendly community meetings
2. To gather information from of community members and local organisations about needs and skills.
3. To participate in local events and use the local media to enhance awareness of SEED.
4. To develop and interactive website or internet presence to inform people about SEED activities and established links with the community
5. Develop a first project that focuses FOOD & CULTURES
6. To apply for local and regional funding opportunities.


Recent Activity
Since it's launch in March 2010 SEED has already:

- Received support and advice from Test Way Housing and Community Action Hampshire.
- Liaised with Andover Adult and Family Learning Centre (AALFC) to deliver a 5 week course in Food Safety Level 2, which took place in April 2010 Liaised with Andover Lawn Tennis Club (ALTC) which is currently offering a 8 week Tennis Skills coaching for only £20 (rackets and balls are provided)
- Received donations from Test Valley in Bloom, TVBC Andover FOOD Festival, Andover Methodist Church, Shahi Raj Restaurant and individual volunteers


Upcoming projects and inititives
In the immediate future SEED will be:

1. Inviting members of the community to become members and volunteers of SEED.
2. Liaising with local services and education providers.
3. Engaging the community through friendly events, learning and skill development opportunities.
4. Attending the Test Valley in Bloom event in Andover on 9th of May 2010
5. Attending ANDOVER FOOD FESTIVAL: FEAST in September 2010. Keep an eye out for our stand. We will be celebrating WORLD SOUP recipes from local people.
6. Gathering traditional British and Worldwide Soup recipes for our Food and Culture project.
